In terms of features, Smartsheet offers Collaboration, File Sharing, Gantt Charts, Calendars, Alerts & Reminders, Admin Tools (User Management, Content and Permissions), Reporting, Google Apps, Mobile Access (with nothing to download), Cell Linking, Crowdsourcing and Pre-built templates. Let's focus in these last three features: Cell Linking provides you with the ability to link several project sheets into a master sheet with the advantage that data updates on the source sheets are carried forward to the master sheet automatically. This is ideal for creating cross referenced projects or even more... think several project budgets feeding your master project budget.
What about Crowdsourcing? Smartsheet has partnered with Amazon and LiveWork so that you can seamlessly submit work requests from Smartsheet to the crowd, handle all the worker recruitment and payment processing and completed work entered back into your Smartsheet. What about pricing? Smartsheet pricing starts at $15.95 per month for basic package: 1 sheet creator or admin, unlimited editors or viewers, up to 10 project sheets, 3GB file storage, no reporting, no crowdsourcing. This entry level package is probably more than enough for a small company or if you are managing a couple of projects on your own.
If you go for the advanced package, pricing jumps to $29.95 per month: you still have 1 admin, unlimited editors or viwers, up to 50 project sheets, 15GB file storage and includes reporting and crowdsourcing, but no priority support, no enterprise administration. This is a serious package for a more senior project manager looking to outsource many of the project activities.
Update August 14, 2012: The basic and advanced packages presented above are now presented and grouped under the "Professional" plan options.
Medium-sized organizations can opt for their Team ($49.95 per month) or Team Plus ($79.95 per month) packages, you get more sheet creators (3 or 10), more project sheets (150 or 500), more space (30GB or 60GB), priority support and enterprise administration.
The Enterprise ($149 per month) package is directed to global organizations or consulting firms that handle 1,000 projects simultaneously, require 100GB file storage as well as prioty support and enterprise administration. If you need more you can contact Smartsheet for volume discounts as well. The sky is the limit!
Update August 14, 2012: TeamPlus and Enterprise are no longer available. The Team plan is still priced at $49.95 per month for up to 3 users, still with unlimited collaborators. Each additional user is priced at $9.95 per month or $99 per year. Each user can do 50 sheets and use up to 15GB for file storage. Priority support, scheduled data backup and team administration are still included in the Team plan.
Discounts are available to any of the packages: Two months free if you subscribe to an annual plan. Preferred rates on annual plans for nonprofits, schools, and government agencies are also available.
SmartSheet support multi-language environment and it is available in French, Portuguese, Spanish, German and Italian.
